Midodrive Tablet 20

Midodrive Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing severe orthostatic hypotension: This refers to a sudden drop in blood pressure when you stand up from a sitting or lying position.

• Assisting patients unresponsive to other treatments: This includes people who haven't had relief from symptoms using compression stockings or other methods.

• Regularising blood pressure throughout the day: The tablets can help maintain consistent blood pressure levels during daily activities.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet. It should be consumed as it is.

• Follow the dosage advised by your doctor without any alterations.

• Never exceed the recommended dose unless advised by your doctor.

• Ensure to take the last dose at least 4 hours before bedtime to prevent high blood pressure while sleeping.

• Avoid taking a dose before periods of prolonged rest or inactivity.

• Always consult your doctor for any specific instructions or doubts about taking this medicine.

Midodrive Tablet is taken orally.

Midodrive Tablet contains midodrine (2.5 mg), which works on your body in the following ways:

• Conversion to Active Metabolite: After it's taken, midodrine is transformed into its active form, termed desglymidodrine, in your gastrointestinal tract.

• Activation of Alpha1 Receptors: Desglymidodrine interacts with alpha1 receptors located on your blood vessels. This interaction activates these receptors.

• Vasoconstriction: The activated alpha1 receptors trigger a response that tightens or narrows your blood vessels — a process known as vasoconstriction.

• Elevation of Blood Pressure: The narrowing of your blood vessels increases their resistance to blood flow, leading to an increase in peripheral vascular resistance and, subsequently, a rise in blood pressure. This helps maintain stable blood pressure levels when you stand up, reducing symptoms associated with orthostatic hypotension.

• Store Midodrive Tablet at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Keep the medicine in a tightly sealed container.

• Protect it from exposure to light and moisture.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Ensure you use Midodrive Tablet before its expiry date.

• Maintain good hydration throughout the day. This is essential as orthostatic hypotension, the condition for which Midodrive Tablet is used, can be worsened by dehydration.

• Regular physical activity can help improve your blood circulation. However, ensure you stand up slowly from a sitting or lying position to avoid sudden drops in blood pressure.
