Onglyza 5mg Tablet contains Saxagliptin (5mg), which has specific actions on your body:

• Incretin Hormone Regulation: Saxagliptin slows down the inactivation of incretin hormones GLP-1 and GIP. These hormones are naturally released by your intestines throughout the day and their release increases in response to a meal. By slowing their inactivation, Saxagliptin prolongs their action.

• Insulin Production Increase: With the increased and prolonged action of GLP-1 and GIP hormones, Saxagliptin promotes the production of insulin when your blood sugar levels are high.

• Reduction of Glucagon Secretion: Along with increasing insulin production, Saxagliptin also reduces the secretion of glucagon, a hormone which raises blood sugar levels. This dual action helps to maintain balanced blood sugar levels.
