Orofer Xt Oral Drops 15ml

Orofer XT Drops are used for the following:

• Prevention of iron deficiency anaemia in infants and children

• Management of existing iron deficiency anaemia in young children

• Ensuring adequate intake of iron during periods of rapid growth in children

• Supporting cognitive development and reducing behavioural disturbances caused by iron deficiency

To ensure the proper use of Orofer XT Drops, please follow these steps:

• Use the calibrated dropper to measure the right dose.

• Give the drops directly into your child's mouth or mix them with a small amount of breast milk, formula, fruit juice, or water.

• If possible, give the drops on an empty stomach for optimal absorption.

• Should any stomach upset occur, you could give the drops with food.

• Always consult your doctor for specific advice.

• Remember to keep the bottle tightly closed after use and store it away from light and moisture.

Note: The drops should be discarded one month after opening the bottle.

Orofer XT Drops contain Ferrous Ascorbate (10 mg), which functions within your child's body as follows:

• Iron Supply: The drops deliver a supply of iron that is essential for producing haemoglobin, the protein responsible for transporting oxygen within the red blood cells.

• Iron Absorption: Ferrous ascorbate dissociates into iron and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) upon ingestion. The presence of ascorbic acid enhances the absorption of iron by reducing it from its ferric (Fe3+) state to its ferrous (Fe2+) state.

• Iron Utilisation: Once absorbed, the iron binds with transferrin, a transport protein that carries it to various tissues for storage as ferritin or incorporation into haemoglobin in developing red blood cells.

• Excretion: Any excess iron that is not utilised by the body is primarily excreted through faeces.

• Store Orofer XT Drops in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture.

• Make sure you tightly close the container after use.

• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Ensure your child's diet is rich in iron. Foods like spinach, lentils, and red meat can be beneficial.

• Encourage regular physical activities for your child, as it aids in better absorption of iron into the body.
