Pirox Injection is used for the following:

• Management of rheumatoid arthritis: This condition causes inflammation and pain in your joints.

• Alleviation of osteoarthritis symptoms: This is a degenerative joint disease that typically affects older individuals.

• Relief from ankylosing spondylitis discomfort: This is a type of arthritis that primarily affects your spine.

• Controlling acute musculoskeletal disorders: These are conditions that cause pain in your muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones.

• Reduction of postoperative pain: This refers to discomfort experienced after undergoing surgery.

• This injection should be administered only by a healthcare practitioner.

• Ensure the site of injection is clean and dry before administering.

• This injection should be administered slowly to minimise any possible irritation at the site.

• Always consult your doctor for specific advice on how frequently and when to administer Pirox Injection.

Pirox Injection is administered via an intramuscular route.

Pirox Injection contains piroxicam (20 mg), which works on your body in the following ways:

• Inhibits Prostaglandin Synthesis: Piroxicam works by blocking the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes in your body. These enzymes play a key role in producing prostaglandins, which cause inflammation and pain.

• Reduces Inflammation and Pain: By inhibiting COX enzymes and subsequently reducing prostaglandin production, piroxicam effectively manages inflammation and pain. This can provide relief from discomfort associated with various inflammatory conditions.

• Store Pirox Injection at normal room temperature, ideally between 15-30°C.

• Keep it protected from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Keep this medicine out of reach and sight of children.

• Make sure to use the Pirox Injection within its expiry date.

• If you have rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis or ankylosing spondylitis - conditions managed by Pirox Injection - including omega-3 fatty acids in your diet can be beneficial. These are found in fish like salmon and mackerel and help reduce inflammation.

• Regular gentle physical activity, like swimming or walking, can help keep your joints flexible and reduce the discomfort of arthritis. However, avoid strenuous activities that may strain your joints.
