Ralop Syrup is used for the following:

Administer Ralop Syrup to your child as follows:

• This medicine is sugar-based and requires caution for use in diabetic children. If your child has diabetes, consult your doctor before giving them this medicine.

Ralop Syrup is given orally.

Ralop Syrup contains racecadotril (15 mg), which acts on your child's body as follows:

• Enkephalinase Inhibition: Racecadotril works by inhibiting an enzyme called enkephalinase in your child's gut. This enzyme normally breaks down certain endogenous opioid peptides known as enkephalins.

• Enhanced Enkephalin Activity: Racecadotril blocks enkephalinase and increases the activity of enkephalins on δ-opioid receptors in the gut.

• Reduced Intestinal Fluid Secretion: The elevated enkephalin activity leads to less water and electrolytes being secreted into the intestinal lumen. This helps manage diarrhoea without affecting gut motility or promoting bacterial overgrowth.

• Store Ralop Syrup in a cool, dry place.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Ensure the bottle is tightly capped to prevent air exposure.
