Sevelamer-800 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing high blood phosphate levels in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis

• Preventing harm from buildup of phosphate in the body, such as bone disease and vascular calcification

Follow these steps while taking Sevelamer-800 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• If you have trouble swallowing the tablet, consult your doctor about switching to another form of this medicine.

Sevelamer-800 Tablet is taken orally.

Sevelamer-800 Tablet contains sevelamer (800 mg). Here is how it works in the body:

• Binds to Phosphate: Sevelamer has multiple amine groups that bind to phosphate molecules in the gut through ionic interactions. This binding action is central to how the medicine manages high phosphate levels.

• Prevents Absorption: The phosphate-sevelamer complex that forms is insoluble, preventing the absorption of phosphate into the bloodstream. This reduces the concentration of free phosphate in the blood.
