Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension 5ml

Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension is used for the following:

• Lowering high intraocular pressure in adults with open-angle glaucoma: This is a condition where the fluid pressure inside the eye is too high, potentially causing damage to the optic nerve and loss of vision.

• Managing ocular hypertension: When the pressure in your eyes is higher than normal, you are at increased risk of developing glaucoma.

• Assisting when single medication therapy isn't enough: Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension can help when one medicine alone isn't sufficient to achieve the desired decrease in intraocular pressure.

Using Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension requires careful attention. Here's how you should proceed:

• Shake well before use. This ensures that the contents are mixed properly.

• Remember to directly instill the drops it into your eye and avoid touching your eye with the dropper tip.

• If you're using more than one type of eye medication, wait at least 5 minutes between each one. This ensures that each medicine has enough time to be absorbed properly.

• Before instilling, remember to remove any contact lenses you might be wearing. You can reinsert them 15 minutes after application.

Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension is applied topically.

Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension contains two active ingredients that work together to reduce intraocular pressure:

• Brinzolamide (1%): This component works by inhibiting an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase II in the ciliary epithelium of your eye. This inhibition results in a decrease in aqueous humour secretion, the fluid produced in your eye.

• Brimonidine (0.2%): Brimonidine operates by decreasing the production of aqueous humour and increasing its outflow through a pathway known as uveoscleral outflow.

• Store Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension in a cool, dry place; the ideal temperature is below 30°C.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight.

• Always ensure the product is kept out of the reach of children.

• Use it before its expiry date.

• Discard any remaining suspension four weeks after first opening.

• Regular eye exercises can help manage ocular hypertension and glaucoma. These exercises can promote better circulation to your eyes, helping to ease pressure.

• Maintain a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, especially those high in antioxidants like Vitamin C and E. These nutrients can support overall eye health, potentially helping to manage conditions like open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
