2,4-dichlorobenzyl Alcohol (1.2 Mg) + Amylmetacresol (0.6 Mg)

Strepsils are over-the-counter available throat lozenges used to relieve the symptoms of mouth and throat infections, dry and irritating cough associated with the common cold and nasal congestion.

Strepsils composition includes amylmetacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol. These ingredients are both mid-antiseptics and help in the symptomatic relief of mouth and throat infections.

Sucking the Strepsils allows the active ingredients to work in the area of discomfort and helps lubricate and soothe the painful area. It helps alleviate the soreness and discomfort of the mouth and throat.

Strepsils are generally safe for adults and children over six years old.

Sore throat: A sore throat is a symptom that refers to pain, irritation, or scratchiness in the throat. It can also feel dry and raw. Sore throats are usually caused by inflammation or irritation resulting from viral or bacterial infections such as the common cold, flu, strep throat, allergies, dry air, or smoking. Symptoms may also include difficulty swallowing, swollen glands in the neck, hoarseness, or fever. Strepsils soothe the throat and provide temporary relief from sore throat.
Mouth ulcers: Mouth ulcers, also known as canker sores, are small, painful sores that can develop inside the mouth, including the lips, cheeks, tongue, and gums. Strepsils may provide some temporary relief from mouth ulcers.
Tonsillitis: Tonsillitis is a condition where the tonsils become inflamed and swollen due to a viral or bacterial infection. Strepsils can help to provide temporary relief from the sore throat pain associated with tonsillitis.
Pharyngitis: Pharyngitis is an inflammation of the pharynx, which is the back of the throat between the tonsils and the larynx or voice box. It is a common condition that can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection or exposure to irritants like pollution or cigarette smoke. Directions for Use of Strepsils 1.2/0.6mg Tablet 8

Dissolve one Strepsils slowly in the mouth every 2-3 hours.
Do not swallow, chew or bite.
Do not take Strepsils with water.
Strepsils can be taken with or without food as recommended by a doctor.

Amylmetacresol, an active ingredient in Strepsils, is classified as an antiseptic that kills or inhibits the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses in the throat.
Amylmetacresol disrupts the cell membranes of bacteria and viruses, leading to their destruction. It reduces the growth of microorganisms in the throat, which can help reduce the symptoms of sore throat and mouth infections.
2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, another active ingredient found in Strepsils, is also an antiseptic and works in combination with amylmetacresol to help reduce the symptoms of sore throat and mouth infections. Daily Dose

The recommended daily dose of Strepsils is 3 to 4 lozenges, with or without food. It is recommended to be at most 12 lozenges in 24 hours.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes excessive Strepsils by accident, it is essential to take immediate medical attention from your doctor or nearby hospital. Symptoms of an overdose include gastrointestinal discomfort.

Missed Dose

You may take the missed dose of Strepsils as soon as you remember, but if it's almost time for the next dose, skip it and continue with your regular dosing schedule; do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Do not store this product at a temperature above 25 ºC.
Keep Strepsils away from children.
Do not use Strepsils after the expiry date has passed.

Gargle with warm salt water to relieve an irritated throat. Take a half-teaspoon of salt in a full glass of warm water. Gargle it many times a day to clear throat infection.
Consuming honey blended with tea or on its own can provide relief to the throat by soothing and coating it, thereby reducing pain and discomfort.
Antimicrobial mouthwashes can help reduce the bacteria in your mouth and promote the healing of throat infections.
Have a cup of peppermint tea to soothe the throat. You can also use peppermint essential oil in steam. Add a few drops of this oil to the facial steamer or a bowl of steaming water and breathe in the steam.
Mulethi or liquorice root helps to clear sputum and reduce throat swelling. Add dried mulethi to your tea or chew it to engulf its extract.
Haldi or turmeric is a natural remedy for sore throat due to its anti-inflammatory properties. You can incorporate turmeric into your tea or warm milk to alleviate a sore throat.
Avoid spicy, acidic, and crunchy foods, as they irritate and worsen your mouth ulcers. Stick to soft, bland foods until the ulcers heal.
Practice good oral hygiene. Brush and floss regularly to keep your mouth clean and reduce the risk of infection.

Strepsils provide long-lasting relief for upto 2 hours.
Use the lowest dose of Strepsils for the shortest duration necessary to relieve sore throat.
Do not exceed 12 lozenges in any 24 hours.
If sore throat symptoms persist after 3 days, it's recommended to consult a doctor.
