Tamodex 10 Tablet is primarily used to treat hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and reduce the risk of developing breast cancer in high-risk individuals. It belongs to the class of Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs) and works by blocking estrogen receptors in breast tissue.

This medication is also prescribed to treat infertility in women caused by a failure to produce and release eggs (ovulate) properly.

Tamodex 10 Tablet is prescribed for:

Breast Cancer Treatment – Treats hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in both premenopausal and postmenopausal women.
Breast Cancer Prevention – Lowers the risk of developing breast cancer in high-risk individuals.
Infertility in Women – Used to induce ovulation in women experiencing ovulation disorders.

Directions for Use of Tamodex 10 Tablet 10

Take the tablet orally with a glass of water.
Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it.
Follow your doctor’s prescribed dosage schedule.
Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

Tamodex 10 Tablet may cause the following side effects:

Tamodex 10 Tablet contains Tamoxifen Citrate (10 mg). Here's how it works:

Tamoxifen is an anti-estrogen medication that blocks estrogen's effects on breast tissue. Since certain breast cancers grow in response to estrogen, this tablet helps slow or stop tumor growth.
In infertility, Tamoxifen helps stimulate ovulation by promoting the release of hormones needed for egg production.

Pregnancy

Tamodex 10 Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy. It may cause harm to the unborn baby. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception while taking this medication.

Breastfeeding

Avoid Tamodex 10 Tablet while breastfeeding as it can pass into breast milk and may harm the baby.

Alcohol

Limit alcohol while taking Tamodex 10 Tablet as it may worsen side effects like dizziness and nausea.

Liver

Use Tamodex 10 Tablet with caution in patients with liver disease. Regular liver function tests are recommended.

Kidney

Patients with kidney impairment should consult their doctor before taking Tamodex 10 Tablet.

Using Machines & Driving

Tamodex 10 Tablet may cause dizziness and blurred vision. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if affected.

Allergy

Children

Tamodex 10 Tablet is not recommended for children less than 18 years of age.

Older Patients

Older patients are at a higher risk of blood clots and endometrial cancer while using Tamodex 10 Tablet.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Tamodex 10 Tablet may interact with the following medications:

Anticoagulants like Warfarin: The concomitant use may increase the risk of excessive bleeding.
Antibiotics like Rifampin: The concomitant use may reduce the effectiveness of Tamoxifen.
SSRIs like Fluoxetine, Paroxetine: The concomitant use may reduce the effect of Tamoxifen.
Chemotherapy medications such as Anastrozole, Letrozole and Exemestane: Consult your doctor for concurrent cancer treatments.

Drug-Food Interactions

Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as it may interfere with Tamodex 10 Tablet’s metabolism.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Tamodex 10 Tablet may interact with the following conditions:

Blood clot disorders: This tablet may increases risk of deep vein thrombosis.
Endometrial hyperplasia: This tablet can cause irregular periods, and if the bleeding is heavy, it could be a warning sign for a certain type of cancer affecting the lining of your womb.
Liver disease: Requires dosage adjustment if you have existing liver disease.

Daily Dose

The daily dose of Tamodex 10 Tablet should be taken as your doctor prescribes. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as age, the severity of the condition, and response to treatment.

Over Dose

Taking more than the prescribed dose can cause dizziness, tremors, irregular heartbeat, and seizures. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose occurs.

Missed Dose

In case you forget a dose of Tamodex 10 Tablet, take it promptly upon recollection. However, avoid repeating the dose.
