Tenvir-AF Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in adults with compensated liver disease

• Used alongside other antiretroviral agents to manage human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection in adults

• Used in conjunction with other antiretroviral agents for managing HIV-1 infection in paediatric patients weighing at least 25 kg.

Here's how you should take Tenvir-AF Tablet:

• Follow the dosage and timing instructions provided by your doctor precisely.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Consult your doctor before discontinuing the medication; do not stop taking it without their guidance.

• Adhere to the dietary recommendations given by your doctor.

Tenvir-AF Tablet is taken orally.

Tenvir-AF Tablet contains tenofovir alafenamide (25 mg) and its action on the body involves:

• Inhibition of Replication: Once transformed into tenofovir diphosphate, this medicine works against both HBV and HIV-1 by inhibiting their replication process. It does this by competing with a natural substance in your body called deoxyadenosine 5'-triphosphate, which these viruses normally use to copy themselves.

• Termination of DNA Chain Elongation: After being incorporated into viral DNA by specific enzymes of HBV and HIV-1 (known as reverse transcriptase enzymes), tenofovir diphosphate stops these viruses from making more copies of themselves by terminating the elongation of their DNA chains. This helps to control the number of virus particles in your body.
