Udapa-Trio Tablet is used for the following:

• Enhancing glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus

• Lowering blood sugar by reducing the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys

• Decreasing the production and absorption of glucose in the liver and intestines

• Improving insulin sensitivity, which helps in better utilisation of glucose

• Increasing the synthesis and release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells

• Decreasing glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells, which contributes to sugar regulation

Udapa-Trio Tablet is a combination medication that contains three active ingredients:

• Dapagliflozin (10 mg): This is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. Its role is to reduce renal glucose reabsorption and lower the renal threshold for glucose. As a result, more glucose gets excreted through urine, leading to a decrease in blood sugar levels.

• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide, metformin works by reducing the production of glucose in the liver and decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose. It also helps improve insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilisation.

• Sitagliptin (100 mg): A member of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors class, sitagliptin slows down the inactivation of incretin hormones. This leads to increased insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells, and decreased glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells, all in a glucose-dependent manner.

• Store Udapa-Trio Tablet at room temperature, specifically between 20°C and 25°C.

• Keep away from moisture and light.

• Ensure it's out of the reach of children.

• Always use the medication before its expiry date.

• Regular physical exercise helps manage blood sugar levels; aim for 30 minutes of activity daily.

• Cut down on sugary foods and drinks, as these can increase blood glucose. Opt for a diet rich in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables instead.
