CompositionVeltam-F Tablet is used to manage benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an enlargement of the prostate gland in men. It is a combination medicine containing tamsulosin and finasteride, and belongs to the classes of alpha-blockers and 5-alpha reductase inhibitors.
This medicine helps relieve symptoms such as difficulty passing urine, frequent urination and a slow urine flow, and helps reduce the risk of sudden inability to pass urine and the need for surgery. Swallow the tablet whole with water without crushing, chewing or breaking it. Complete the full duration of treatment as prescribed. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Limiting fluids, caffeine and alcohol in the evening may help reduce night-time trips to the toilet alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure, liver or kidney disease, heart problems or prostate cancer before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. If you are due to have eye surgery for cataracts or glaucoma, tell your eye surgeon that you take this medicine. Women and children should not take this medicine. Men should not donate blood while taking it, and should use a condom if their partner is pregnant. Report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so, as your symptoms may worsen.
