Xarelto is a medicine used to manage various conditions, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), and venous thromboembolism (VTE). It is also prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke, systemic embolism in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, and major cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Xarelto can prevent DVT in patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery, treat VTE in acutely ill medical patients, and manage thrombosis in children with congenital heart disease after heart surgery.
It is important to consult your doctor before taking Xarelto and inform them about any liver, kidney, or bleeding problems you may have. Xarelto should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Common side effects include bleeding, limb pain and swelling, stomach issues, low blood pressure, weakness, headache, and rash. If any side effects worsen, contact your doctor immediately.
