Zocef Dry Syrup 30ml

Zocef Dry Syrup is used for managing the following conditions in children:

• Upper respiratory tract infections such as tonsillitis and sinusitis

• Lower respiratory tract infections including acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

• Secondary bacterial infections of acute bronchitis

• Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections

• Simple urinary tract infections

• Early Lyme disease

• Uncomplicated gonorrhoea, including urethral and endocervical types

Administer Zocef Dry Syrup to your child as follows:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Medicine should be taken after food for optimum absorption.

• For children the dose may be added to fruit juice or milk just before use.

• Measure the exact quantity as recommended by your doctor using a spoon or cup.

• Always remember to keep the bottle tightly capped after use.

• As this medicine is sugar-based, it needs caution for use in children with diabetes. If your child has diabetes, consult your doctor before giving them this medicine.

Zocef Dry Syrup is given orally.

Zocef Dry Syrup contains a single active ingredient, cefuroxime (125 mg). It impacts the body through a couple of key actions:

• Inhibits Bacterial Cell Wall Synthesis: Cefuroxime works by binding itself to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) inside the bacteria. These PBPs are crucial for constructing the bacterial cell wall. By blocking their function, cefuroxime disrupts the formation of these walls.

• Induces Bacterial Cell Death: Once the cell wall synthesis is disrupted, it leads to the breakdown or lysis of the bacterial cell wall. This ultimately leads to the death of bacteria, helping to combat the infection in your child's body.

• Store the Zocef Dry Syrup powder in a cool and dry place, ensuring it's shielded from light and moisture.

• Once the syrup is prepared, keep it in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C.

• Always keep the medicine out of reach of children.

• Make sure to use the reconstituted suspension within 10 days.

• Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if they are managing a urinary tract infection with Zocef Dry Syrup . This helps flush bacteria out of their system.
