Zymar Eye Drops are used for the following health conditions:

• Assistance in managing bacterial conjunctivitis: This medicine is used to manage a bacterial infection of the conjunctiva, which is the clear layer covering the white part of your eye and inner eyelid.

• Management of redness and swelling in the eyes: These symptoms are often associated with bacterial conjunctivitis.

• Alleviation of eye irritation and itching: These are common discomforts experienced in the case of bacterial conjunctivitis.

To use Zymar Eye Drops effectively, follow these instructions:

• Shake well before use to ensure proper mixing of the medicine.

• Before instillation, remove any contact lenses you might be wearing.

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid.

• Bring the dropper close to your eye (avoid touching it) and gently squeeze out one drop.

• Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes after instillation to allow the medicine to spread evenly.

• If you need to instil other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes before doing so.

• After use, replace the cap immediately to prevent contamination.

Zymar Eye Drops contain gatifloxacin (0.3%), which acts on your body as follows:

• Inhibits Bacterial DNA Gyrase and Topoisomerase IV: Gatifloxacin works by blocking two enzymes in bacteria called DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes play a crucial role in the replication and transcription of bacterial DNA.

• Prevents Bacterial DNA Replication: By inhibiting these enzymes, gatifloxacin effectively stops bacterial DNA from replicating, which prevents further growth of the bacteria.

• Causes Cell Death: Once bacterial growth is stopped, it leads to the death of the bacterial cells, thus managing the infection.

• Broad Spectrum Activity: Gatifloxacin has a wide range of activity against various types of bacteria that commonly cause eye infections, making it effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial strains.

• Store your Zymar Eye Drops at a cool room temperature between 15-25°C; avoid freezing.

• Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use to prevent entry of air and moisture.

• Place it in a location that is out of the reach of children.

• Use the eye drops within 1 month after opening.
