• Inhibits Ergosterol Synthesis: Ketoconazole works by blocking the formation of ergosterol. This substance forms an integral part of fungal cell membranes.

• Increases Cell Membrane Permeability: By depleting ergosterol levels and disrupting sterol biosynthesis, Ketoconazole makes the fungal cell membrane more permeable. This causes leakage of cellular contents and ultimately leads to the death of the fungal cell.
