Consequently, sodium concentration increases in the collecting ducts. Hydrochlorothiazide achieves this by curtailing sodium-potassium ATPase pump activity on the basolateral surface, hindering sodium movement across the tubular lumen and preventing sodium and water influx into the interstitial space.
- Telmisartan is part of a medication class known as angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, particularly in tissues like blood vessels and the adrenal gland.
