Uses of Ipratropium + Levosalbutamol

  • Ipratropium and Levosalbutamol are bronchodilators used to prevent bronchospasms in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd) like chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Contraindications 

  • It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Ipratropium and Levosalbutamol or Atropine and its derivatives.

Medications To Avoid With This Drug 

  • Avoid taking antihypertensives (Atenolol, Labetalol, and Metoprolol), antidepressants (Amitriptyline, Amoxapine, Clomipramine, Isocarboxazid and Phenelzine), antiarrhythmics (Digoxin), adrenergic agonists (Epinephrine), diuretics, and other bronchodilators (Metaproterenol). These medications may alter the safety and effectiveness of Ipratropium and Levosalbutamol.

Overdose And Missed Dose

  • Overdose can cause hypertension, increased heart rate, metabolic acidosis, hypokalemia and exaggeration of the common side effects, which need to be managed as an emergency in a hospital setting. Therefore, strict adherence to the prescribed dose is essential.
  • If you miss a dose of Ipratropium and Levosalbutamol, take it as soon as you remember. But, if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dosing regime.

  • Minimise exposure to allergens like dust mites, pet dander, pollen, or mold, which can trigger bronchospasm. Keep your living environment clean, and consider using air purifiers if necessary.
  • Avoid exposure to smoke, strong odours, and chemical fumes, as they can irritate the airways and trigger bronchospasm. 
  • Avoid consuming chilled and refrigerated foods, which can act as a trigger for bronchospasm
  • If you're a smoker, quit smoking to manage COPD.
