Airflow 250 Capsule 30

Airflow 250 Capsules are used for the following:

• Long-term management of asthma in patients aged 4 years and older

• Maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

• Reducing exacerbations in COPD patients.

  Please note that this medicine is not suitable for immediate relief of acute bronchospasm or for treating asthma that can be managed by occasional use of short-acting beta2-agonists.

To use Airflow 250 Capsules correctly, please follow the instructions below:

• Insert the capsule into the provided rotahaler device.

• Pierce the capsule and inhale its contents deeply through the mouthpiece.

• Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after inhalation to reduce oral issues.

• Remember, this medicine is not meant to be swallowed.

Airflow 250 Capsules consist of two active components:

• Fluticasone Propionate (250 mcg): As a synthetic glucocorticoid, fluticasone propionate works by reducing inflammation in your airways. It also decreases hyper-responsiveness and mucus secretion, thus reducing airway obstruction.

• Salmeterol (50 mcg): Classified as a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA), salmeterol causes prolonged relaxation of airway smooth muscles. It does so by stimulating an enzyme inside your cells called adenyl cyclase. This increases levels of a molecule called cyclic AMP, which promotes smooth muscle relaxation.

The combined actions of these two ingredients help manage asthma and COPD more effectively than either component alone. However, remember that LABAs like salmeterol may increase the risk of asthma-related deaths.
