CompositionAtecard D 50/12.5 Tablet 15 is used to manage high blood pressure, angina pectoris and to improve survival after a heart attack. It is a combination medicine containing atenolol and chlorthalidone, and belongs to the class of beta-blocker and thiazide-like diuretic medicines.
This medicine combines atenolol, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces the workload on the heart, with a diuretic that helps remove excess salt and water from the body, together controlling hypertension more effectively. Swallow this tablet whole with an adequate amount of liquid, at the same time each day, in the dose prescribed by your doctor.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one.
Tell your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or other ongoing medications, before starting this medicine. Report any unusual cold extremities, nausea, diarrhoea or constipation to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
