Atocor F Tablet 15

Atocor F Tablet is used for managing the following conditions:

• High levels of LDL "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides

• Insufficient levels of HDL "good" cholesterol

• Prevention of heart attack and stroke in people with type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors

• Reduction of risk associated with atherosclerosis; a condition characterised by fatty deposits in the arteries

• Management of pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas caused by high triglyceride levels

• Prevention of plaque buildup in arteries to reduce the risk of medical conditions caused by blocked or hardened arteries

Here's how you should take Atocor F Tablet:

• Thoroughly follow the dosage and timing guidelines provided by your doctor for taking this medicine.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Avoid discontinuing this medication without your doctor's advice. Always consult your doctor before stopping.

Atocor F Tablet is taken orally.

Atocor F Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Atorvastatin (10 mg): This component works by inhibiting an enzyme in your liver called HMG-CoA reductase. This enzyme is crucial for producing cholesterol. By blocking this enzyme, atorvastatin reduces the amount of cholesterol that your liver can make and also increases the liver's capacity to remove LDL cholesterol from your blood.

• Fenofibrate (160 mg): This ingredient activates an enzyme known as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα). This activation leads to an increased breakdown of triglyceride-rich particles and a decrease in certain proteins that regulate lipid production. The overall effect is a decrease in levels of triglycerides and LDL cholesterol, coupled with an increase in HDL cholesterol levels in your blood.

This dual action aids in effectively managing total cholesterol levels, reducing LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels whilst increasing HDL cholesterol levels in your blood.

• Protect the medicine from exposure to light and moisture.

• Maintain the tablet in its original packaging, ensuring it's tightly closed.

• Always keep the medicine out of reach of children.

• Remember to use the tablet before its expiry date.

• Include plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains in your diet. These foods help manage cholesterol levels, making your Atocor F Tablet more effective.

• Regular cardiovascular exercise, such as brisk walking or cycling, can help lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol, aiding in the overall effectiveness of this medicine.
