CompositionAxcer 90 Tablet 14 is used to prevent heart attack, stroke and death from heart disease in adults who have had acute coronary syndrome, such as a heart attack or unstable angina. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ticagrelor 90mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called antiplatelets (P2Y12 inhibitors).
This medicine is taken together with low-dose aspirin, usually for up to a year after acute coronary syndrome, and is also used for a short time after certain strokes or mini-strokes (TIAs). It stops blood cells called platelets from clumping together to form clots. Take it with or without food. Do not stop it without speaking to your heart specialist, as this raises the risk of a heart attack or stent clot.
Not smoking, eating a heart-healthy diet, staying active as advised, and controlling blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar help protect your heart.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have active bleeding, a history of bleeding in the brain, liver disease, asthma or COPD, a slow heartbeat, or gout, and about all other medicines you take, especially blood thinners, painkillers and certain antifungals or antibiotics. Do not take more than 100mg of aspirin a day with it unless your doctor advises. Tell any doctor or dentist that you take it before surgery. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek urgent medical help for bleeding that will not stop, black stools, vomiting of blood, or signs of stroke. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
