Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup is used to manage cough along with allergy symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes. It contains diphenhydramine, an antihistamine that also calms the cough reflex, together with ammonium chloride and sodium citrate, which act as expectorant and mucus-loosening ingredients.
Diphenhydramine blocks histamine and calms the part of the brain that triggers coughing, while ammonium chloride and sodium citrate help loosen and thin mucus, together relieving cough and easing associated allergy symptoms.
Take this syrup using the measuring cup provided, at the dose and frequency your doctor advises, with or without food.
This medicine can cause drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you, and avoid alcohol. Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, or a history of seizures.
