Benadryl Syrup is used to relieve cough and symptoms associated with the common cold and allergies such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itching of the throat or nose. It contains ammonium chloride, diphenhydramine, and Sodium citrate.  Ammonium chloride acts as an expectorant, thinning and loosening mucus to aid its expulsion from the airways. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that blocks histamine, a substance in the body responsible for allergic reactions. Sodium citrate acts as a mucolytic, liquefying phlegm and making it easier to cough up. In addition to easing allergy symptoms, this syrup also helps alleviate cold symptoms like cough and congestion.

Follow these guidelines when using Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup:

• Use the provided cup to measure out correct quantity.
• Take the syrup with or without food.
• Replace the bottle cap tightly after use.

Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup contains three active ingredients:

• Ammonium chloride (138 mg): An expectorant, it works by irritating the mucus membranes, triggering increased fluid secretion by the cells lining your respiratory tract. This helps loosen respiratory secretions so they can be coughed up more easily.
• Diphenhydramine (14.08 mg): An antihistamine, it helps manage allergic reactions by blocking the effects of histamine at the H1 receptor. It also dries up respiratory secretions through its anticholinergic activity.
• Sodium citrate (57.03 mg): As an expectorant, it increases the pH and volume of airway secretions. This reduces the thickness of mucus, allowing it to be cleared more easily from the respiratory tract. It also reduces the risk of kidney stones by preventing ammonium chloride crystallisation in urine.
• Ethanol (95% I.P.): This ingredient acts as a preservative so that the other ingredients have the maximum potency till the expiry date.

• Store Benadryl Cough Formula Syrup in its original container, tightly sealed.
• Keep at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 30°C.
• Protect from light and moisture.
• Ensure it's out of reach of children.
