Betacap 20 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing high blood pressure, also known as hypertension

• Helping with chest pain related to the heart, a condition called angina pectoris

• Regulating irregular heartbeats, medically referred to as cardiac arrhythmias

• Preventing heart attacks, in medical terms known as myocardial infarction prophylaxis

• Preventing migraines

• Controlling essential tremor, which causes uncontrolled shaking

• Easing anxiety symptoms such as palpitations and sweating

• Managing symptoms of thyroid disorders and adrenal tumours, conditions known as thyrotoxicosis and pheochromocytoma, respectively

To correctly use Betacap 20 Tablet, you should follow these steps:

• Take the tablet with a glass of water.

• Swallow it whole without crushing or chewing it.

• Always take your medicine before meals.

• Try to take your doses at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels of the medicine in your body.

• Do not stop using this medication suddenly without discussing it with your doctor first, as it could worsen certain conditions.

Betacap 20 Tablet is taken orally.

Betacap 20 Tablet contains propranolol (20 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Blocking β1 and β2-adrenergic receptors: Propranolol blocks certain chemicals in your body from binding to these receptors, reducing their effects on your heart.

• Lowering cardiac output: Propranolol reduces the amount of blood your heart pumps out by decreasing your heart rate and contractility (the strength of heart muscle contractions).

• Dilating blood vessels: This action helps lower your blood pressure.

• Reducing oxygen demand of the heart: By slowing down your heart rate, propranolol decreases the amount of oxygen needed by your heart.

• Stabilising electrical activity in the heart: This helps manage irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias.

• Suppressing renin: Propranolol inhibits the release of renin, a hormone produced by your kidneys that can increase blood pressure.

• Store Betacap 20 Tablet at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Protect it from light and moisture to maintain its efficacy.

• Keep it out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.

• Ensure you use the medicine before the expiry date indicated on the pack.

• Consider reducing your salt intake. Too much salt can raise your blood pressure.
