CompositionBetheran Tablet is used to help the bladder empty in adults with urinary retention that is not caused by a blockage, for example after surgery or childbirth, or from certain medicines or nerve conditions.
It contains bethanechol, which stimulates the bladder muscle. It works by prompting the bladder to contract, which helps you pass urine.
Take it on an empty stomach as prescribed, as food can reduce how well it works and increase side effects.
Do not use it if there is a blockage in the bladder or bowel. Tell your doctor about any stomach ulcer, asthma, overactive thyroid, heart problems or Parkinson's disease before use. Seek help if you still cannot pass urine.
