Betheran Tablet is used to help empty the bladder in adults with non-obstructive urinary retention, a condition where the bladder cannot empty on its own despite no physical blockage. This is commonly seen after surgery, childbirth, certain medicines, or as a result of neurological conditions affecting bladder muscle control.
It contains bethanechol 25mg, a parasympathomimetic agent that directly stimulates the muscarinic receptors of the bladder detrusor muscle, promoting contraction and urination. Take it on an empty stomach as prescribed, as food can reduce absorption and increase the risk of side effects.
Attending regular bladder assessments, measuring post-void residual volume, and staying well hydrated all support bladder recovery alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any intestinal obstruction, stomach ulcer, heart problems, overactive thyroid, asthma, or Parkinson's disease. Seek immediate help if urinary symptoms do not improve. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
