CompositionBilast-M Tablet is a combination medicine used to manage and relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever and seasonal or year-round environmental allergies. It effectively helps control annoying symptoms including continuous sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, nasal blockages, and itchy or watery eyes.
It combines two active ingredients: bilastine and montelukast. Bilastine is an antihistamine that blocks the action of histamine, a natural substance that triggers allergic responses, while montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks specific chemical messengers to reduce swelling in the airways. It is best taken on an empty stomach.
To help manage your respiratory allergy symptoms, try to minimise your exposure to known environmental triggers. These include keeping windows closed during high pollen seasons, dusting living spaces regularly with a damp cloth, avoiding tobacco smoke, and using air purifiers where possible.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, a history of asthma, or any severe drug sensitivities. Inform them of all other daily medications you take. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding before starting this treatment.
