CompositionBrinzotim Eye Drops is used to lower raised pressure inside the eye in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, when a single eye drop has not been enough. It is a combination medicine containing brinzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and timolol, a beta blocker.
Both medicines reduce the amount of fluid made inside the eye, lowering eye pressure more than either alone. Shake the bottle well, then put one drop into the affected eye twice a day, as prescribed. Afterwards, close your eye and press gently on the inner corner for 1 to 2 minutes to reduce how much medicine reaches the rest of the body.
Use the drops every day, even though raised eye pressure usually has no symptoms, and keep all eye pressure check-ups. Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back.
Timolol can be absorbed into the body, so do not use these drops if you have asthma, severe COPD, a very slow heartbeat, heart block or uncontrolled heart failure. Before starting, also tell your doctor if you have severe kidney disease, an allergy to sulfa medicines, diabetes or thyroid problems, and about other medicines you take, especially beta blockers and other eye drops; leave at least 5 minutes between different drops. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for wheezing, a very slow pulse, fainting, or eye swelling and severe redness. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
