Calcigard 10 Capsule 10

Calcigard-10 Capsule is used for the following:

• Managing high blood pressure levels

• Preventing angina: This condition causes chest pain due to a lack of oxygen-rich blood flow to the heart.

• Controlling chest pain at rest accompanied by ST-segment elevation: It's a specific kind of angina identified on an ECG (electrocardiogram).

• Managing angina or coronary artery spasm provoked by ergonovine: Ergonovine is a medication that can induce these spasms in some people.

• Treating angiographically demonstrated coronary artery spasm: This condition is confirmed through an angiogram test that visualises your blood vessels.

• Management of chronic stable angina in patients who remain symptomatic despite adequate doses of beta-blockers and/or nitrates or who cannot tolerate those medications.

Take Calcigard-10 Capsule as suggested below:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.

• Ensure you do not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly. If you want to discontinue, first consult your doctor who can guide you on gradually reducing the dose.

Calcigard-10 Capsule is taken orally.

Calcigard-10 Capsule contains Nifedipine (10 mg). The way it works in the body can be summarised as follows:

• Relaxation of Blood Vessels: Nifedipine helps relax the blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. This results in lower blood pressure and improved blood flow to the heart.

• Inhibition of Calcium Influx: Nifedipine inhibits the movement of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells. These cells rely on the movement of calcium from outside the cells through specific ion channels for their contraction processes. By blocking calcium influx, Nifedipine reduces the resistance of peripheral blood vessels and the oxygen demand on the heart.

• Store Calcigard-10 Capsule at room temperature, ideally between 15-30°C.

• Keep the capsule in a tightly closed container, protected from light and moisture.

• Ensure it is safely out of reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before use. Do not use if the product is past its expiry date.
