Calcigard 10 Retard Tablet 10

Calcigard-10 Retard Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prevent heart-related chest pain (angina). It helps relax blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the strain on the heart.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.

• The tablet can be taken with or without food, but make sure to take it at the same time each day for consistency.

• Never take more than your doctor has recommended. If you feel your current dose isn't working effectively, consult your doctor before changing it.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without first discussing it with your doctor.

Calcigard-10 Retard Tablet is taken orally.

Calcigard-10 Retard Tablet contains nifedipine (10 mg). It acts on the body in the following ways:

• Calcium Ion Influx Inhibitor: Nifedipine acts as a calcium ion influx inhibitor. This means it prevents calcium ions from entering certain cells in your body's vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle.

• Vasodilation and Blood Pressure Reduction: By inhibiting calcium ion influx, nifedipine causes vasodilation – a widening of your blood vessels. This reduces peripheral vascular resistance (resistance in the blood vessels outside of your heart), which subsequently lowers your arterial blood pressure.

• Sustained Blood Pressure Control: The slow-release formulation ensures that nifedipine is gradually released from Calcigard-10 Retard Tablet into your body over time. This provides sustained control over your blood pressure with just one dose per day.

• Store Calcigard-10 Retard Tablet at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

• Keep the medicine in a tightly closed container, protected from light and moisture.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Ensure to use it within the expiry date mentioned on the package.

• As this medicine is used to manage high blood pressure, consider adopting a diet low in salt and saturated fats. This can help control your blood pressure levels.

• Regular physical activity can also be beneficial. However, if you experience angina symptoms, such as chest pain or discomfort while exercising, stop immediately and consult your doctor.
