CompositionCanditral 200 Capsule is used to treat stubborn or widespread fungal infections of the skin and nails, and some serious fungal infections of internal organs. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing itraconazole 200mg, and belongs to a class of medicines called azole antifungals.
This medicine is also used for yeast infections of the mouth, throat and vagina, and for certain fungal infections of the lungs, such as aspergillosis and histoplasmosis. Swallow the capsule whole immediately after a full meal to help absorption, and continue for the full course your doctor prescribes.
Keeping skin folds clean and dry, wearing loose cotton clothing, not sharing towels or combs and washing clothes regularly can help prevent the infection spreading or returning.
Do not take this medicine for skin or nail infections if you have heart failure. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart, liver or kidney disease, and about all other medicines you take, as it interacts with many others. Women should use effective contraception during treatment and until their next period after finishing, and should tell their doctor if they are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you notice breathlessness, swollen legs, dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or tingling in the hands or feet. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
