Cardipin Retard Tablet is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension). It is also used to manage angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart) and Raynaud's phenomenon, where blood flow to the fingers and toes is reduced.
It belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers (the dihydropyridine type), which relax and widen the blood vessels so blood flows more easily. The "Retard" form releases the medicine slowly for steady control. Take it as prescribed, and keep taking it even when you feel well.
Reducing salt in your diet, staying active, keeping to a healthy weight and limiting alcohol support better blood pressure control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any heart or liver problems before starting, and about other medicines you take. Ankle swelling can occur; report it if troublesome, along with marked dizziness, flushing or a fast heartbeat.
