CompositionCareprost Eye Drops is used to lower raised pressure inside the eye in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, helping to protect the optic nerve and vision. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing bimatoprost 0.03%, which belongs to a class of medicines called prostaglandin analogues.
This medicine increases the drainage of fluid from the eye, lowering eye pressure. Put one drop into the affected eye once a day, in the evening, as prescribed; using it more often can make it work less well. Wash your hands first and do not let the dropper touch your eye or any surface. If you use other eye drops, leave at least 5 minutes between them.
Use the drops every day, even though raised eye pressure usually has no symptoms, and keep all eye pressure check-ups. Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back.
This medicine can gradually and permanently darken the coloured part of the eye (iris), especially in mixed-colour eyes, and may darken the eyelid skin and make eyelashes longer and thicker. It should be used only for eye pressure as prescribed, not for cosmetic eyelash growth. Before using it, tell your doctor if you have eye inflammation, recent eye surgery, a history of eye infections, or asthma, and about other eye drops you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you have eye pain, swelling or changes in vision. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
