CompositionCellcept 250mg Capsule 10 is used to help prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted organ. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing mycophenolate mofetil, and belongs to the class of immunosuppressant medicines.
This medicine works by blocking an enzyme needed for the growth of certain immune cells, which reduces the activity of these cells and helps prevent them from attacking the transplanted organ. It is usually taken together with other medicines such as ciclosporin and corticosteroids. Take this capsule whole with a glass of water, in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor, starting soon after your transplant.
Tell your doctor about any pre-existing digestive, blood or kidney conditions, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. Because this medicine weakens your immune system, report any signs of infection, such as fever or sore throat, to your doctor promptly. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so, as this may increase the risk of organ rejection.
