Choltran Sachet 5gm

Choltran Sachet is used for the following:

• Lowering high LDL-cholesterol and overall cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia

• Alleviating itching associated with partial blockage of bile ducts

• Assisting in managing diarrhoea related to Crohn's disease, vagotomy, or removal of a portion of the small intestine

• Helping in managing digitoxin intoxication, a condition caused by an overdose of the heart medication digitoxin

Use Choltran Sachet as follows:

• Mix the powder thoroughly with 2-6 ounces of water, juice, or soft food.

• Consume it immediately after mixing. Don't store the mixture for future use.

• Rinse your glass with more liquid to ensure you take the entire dose.

• Consult your doctor for specific advice on how to take this medicine.

Choltran Sachet is taken orally.

Choltran Sachet contains cholestyramine (4 gm), which works on your body as follows:

• Binds to Bile Acids: Cholestyramine forms a bond with bile acids present in your intestine, creating an insoluble complex that leaves your body through the faeces.

• Interrupts Enterohepatic Circulation: The binding of cholestyramine with bile acids disrupts their normal recycling process within the body. This results in your liver converting more cholesterol into bile acids.

• Reduces Cholesterol Levels: As a result of an increased conversion of cholesterol into bile acids, there is a decrease in the levels of LDL-cholesterol and total cholesterol in your blood.

• Store Choltran Sachet below 25°C in a cool, dry place.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Always keep the sachet out of reach of children.

• Remember to use the contents promptly after opening the sachet.

• Check the expiry date on the sachet before use and never consume expired medicine.

• Maintain a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet. This can help manage high cholesterol levels which Choltran Sachet is used for. Opt for lean meats, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
