Cilamet XL 10/50 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing high blood pressure, also known as hypertension

• Lowering the risk of stroke, a condition where blood flow to a part of your brain is stopped or reduced

• Preventing heart attacks, where the blood supply to the heart is suddenly blocked

• Reducing the workload on your heart by slowing down your heartbeat.

Here's how you should take Cilamet XL 10/50 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not chew, crush or divide the tablet.

• You may take this medicine with or without food.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

• If you have to stop taking this medicine, make sure you do so under the guidance of your doctor.

Cilamet XL 10/50 Tablet is a combination medicine that contains two active ingredients:

• Cilnidipine (10 mg): This ingredient is a calcium channel blocker. Its primary function is to inhibit the movement of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. The result is vasodilation, which means the relaxation of blood vessels, leading to decreased peripheral vascular resistance and ultimately lowering blood pressure. Additionally, cilnidipine inhibits the release of noradrenaline from nerve endings which further aids in reducing blood pressure.

• Metoprolol succinate (50 mg): Metoprolol succinate acts as a cardioselective beta1 adrenergic receptor blocking agent. It competes with adrenaline to bind to beta1 receptors in the heart, which helps in reducing heart rate, myocardial contractility (which means the force with which heart muscles contract), and cardiac output (the volume of blood pumped by the heart per minute). By reducing the workload on the heart, metoprolol succinate contributes to lowering blood pressure and improving cardiovascular health.
