CompositionCiplar-LA 40 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure, prevent angina and migraine attacks, control irregular heart rhythms, and reduce the risk of bleeding in portal hypertension (high pressure in the vein that carries blood to the liver).
It contains propranolol, a beta-blocker, in a long-acting form. It works by slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of the heartbeat, which lowers blood pressure and the strain on the heart.
Take it as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Do not stop it suddenly, as beta-blockers should be reduced gradually to avoid rebound effects.
Tell your doctor about any asthma or breathing problems, diabetes, thyroid problems, poor circulation or a slow heart rate before starting. It can mask the warning signs of low blood sugar.
