Diamox Tablet 15

Diamox Tablet is used to treat glaucoma, fluid retention (oedema), epilepsy, and to prevent and manage altitude sickness. It helps reduce pressure inside the eyes and brain, control seizures, and remove excess fluid in conditions such as heart failure, hydrocephalus, and periodic paralysis.

• Swallow the Diamox tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
• Take the Diamox tablet at fixed times each day to maintain a consistent level of medication. 
• Read the label carefully and follow your doctor's instructions for taking the tablet, including the dosage, frequency, and duration of treatment. 

Diamox tablets should be administered orally with a glass of water.

• Diamox tablets work by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase. This enzyme produces hydrogen ions and bicarbonate in the body, which helps regulate the pH balance of various tissues and body fluids.
• Inhibition of carbonic anhydrase by Diamox tablet leads to a decrease in the production of hydrogen ions and bicarbonate, which can have various effects on different systems in the body. In the eye, Diamox tablet reduces the production of aqueous humor, a fluid that helps maintain the eyeball's shape and provides nutrients to the eye tissues. By reducing the production of aqueous humor, the Diamox tablet lowers the pressure inside the eye to treat glaucoma.
• Likewise, Diamox tablets can prevent and treat altitude sickness by eliminating bicarbonate from the blood. It increase the blood's acidity, which initiates an artificial compensatory mechanism in the body that stimulates breathing and helps increase oxygen concentration.
• In addition to these effects, Diamox tablets can also have diuretic properties, which means they can increase urine production. It is due to its ability to reduce the reabsorption of bicarbonate in the kidneys, which can lead to an increase in the excretion of sodium, water, and other electrolytes.

• Store this medicine at a temperature below 30 ºC.
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Diamox tablets away from children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• Having a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources such as fish and chicken can help maintain eye health. 
• Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco to reduce the risk of glaucoma.
• For altitude sickness, gradually ascending to higher altitudes instead of rapidly ascending can also help the body adjust to changes in altitude.
• Avoiding processed foods and sugar can manage seizures and epilepsy.
• Keeping your diet low in sodium, saturated fats, and cholesterol can help manage congestive heart failure. 
• Having a diet rich in potassium can manage periodic paralysis. Foods such as bananas, sweet potatoes, spinach, and avocados are good sources of potassium. 
• Exercise in routine and avoid triggers such as stress to reduce the frequency of periodic paralysis attacks.
