Dicorate ER 500 Tablet is used to manage epilepsy, to prevent migraine attacks and to manage manic episodes in bipolar disorder. Its extended-release form gives steady levels through the day.
It contains sodium valproate (as divalproex). It works by calming the abnormal electrical activity in the brain and helping balance the brain's chemical messengers.
Take it exactly as prescribed and do not stop it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures; any change is made gradually.
This medicine can seriously harm an unborn baby, so it must not be used in pregnancy unless there is no alternative, and effective contraception is essential for women who can become pregnant. Tell your doctor about any liver problems before use, and report severe stomach pain, vomiting or yellowing of the skin.
