Elmox CV 625 Duo Tablet is used for managing the following bacterial infections:

• Infections of the skin and soft tissues

• Dental abscesses and other related dental infections

• Intra-abdominal infections such as peritonitis

• Bone and joint infections

• Septicemia, a severe blood infection

• Resistant forms of tuberculosis when used as part of a multi-medicine regimen

Elmox CV 625 Duo Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Amoxicillin (500 mg): This ingredient is a semisynthetic penicillin that works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). These PBPs play a crucial role in the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. By inhibiting these proteins, amoxicillin weakens the cell wall leading to lysis and death of susceptible bacteria.

• Clavulanic Acid (125 mg): This component is a beta-lactamase inhibitor with negligible intrinsic antimicrobial activity. Its main function is to protect amoxicillin from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria. By doing so, it extends the spectrum of activity of amoxicillin to include beta-lactamase-producing strains.
