Encorate Chrono 200 Tablet is used to control seizures in epilepsy, to manage manic episodes in bipolar disorder, and to help prevent migraine attacks. It contains sodium valproate in a controlled-release form.
Sodium valproate works by increasing the levels of a calming brain chemical called GABA and steadying abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which reduces seizure frequency, helps stabilise mood in mania, and lowers the frequency of migraine attacks with regular use.
Take this tablet at the same time each day, swallowed whole with water, and do not crush or chew it, since it is a controlled-release formulation. Take it exactly as your doctor prescribes, whether once or as prescribed.
This medicine must not be used in pregnancy, as it carries a high risk of birth defects and developmental problems in an unborn baby; women of childbearing potential need specific counselling and contraception advice from their doctor before starting treatment. Do not stop this medicine suddenly, as this can trigger seizures; report unusual bruising, bleeding, persistent vomiting, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, which need urgent medical review.
