Eptoin 30 mg/5 mL Suspension is used to control and prevent various types of epileptic seizures (fits) in adults and children. It is also prescribed to prevent seizures following brain surgery or severe head injury.
It contains phenytoin, an anti-epileptic medicine. Shake the bottle thoroughly before measuring each dose. Take it consistently at the same times every day as prescribed. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly or switch brands without medical advice, as this can trigger breakthrough seizures.
Adhering to medical appointments is essential for safe long-term treatment. Regular blood tests to monitor phenytoin levels, liver function, and blood counts support effective control while minimizing side effects.
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease, heart conditions, or a history of allergic reactions. Seek urgent medical attention if you notice a skin rash, swollen gums, or unusual bruising. Speak to your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as valproate and phenytoin require careful specialist evaluation.
