Eptoin 300 ER Tablet is used for managing the following:

• Generalised tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures: These are severe forms of epileptic seizures that affect the entire brain.

• Complex partial (psychomotor, temporal lobe) seizures: These are focal seizures that start in a specific area of the brain.

• Seizures occurring during or after neurosurgery or severe head trauma: This medicine helps control seizures that may result from brain surgery or major head injuries.

To use Eptoin 300 ER Tablet effectively, follow these steps:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or split it.

• If taking this medicine upsets your stomach, you can take it with food.

• The dosage is personalised and should be adhered to as advised by your doctor.

• Remember, abrupt discontinuation of this medication may trigger severe seizures. Always consult your doctor before changing your dose or stopping the medicine.

Eptoin 300 ER Tablet contains Phenytoin (300 mg), which acts on your body in the following ways:

• Inhibits Seizure Activity: Phenytoin primarily acts on the motor cortex of the brain where it inhibits the spread of seizure activity. This action helps stabilise the threshold against hyperexcitability caused by excessive stimulation.

• Modulates Sodium Channels: Phenytoin prolongs the inactive state of voltage-gated sodium channels, resulting in reduced neuronal excitability and decreased propagation of seizure impulses.

• Modulates Calcium and Potassium Channels: Phenytoin also modulates calcium and potassium channels, contributing to its anticonvulsant effects.

• Store Eptoin 300 ER Tablet at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Protect the medicine from exposure to light and moisture.

• Be sure to keep this product out of the reach of children.
