CompositionFaronem Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the airways and lungs, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing faropenem, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called penems.
This medicine is used for infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, bladder infections and skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It works only against bacteria and will not treat viral infections. Take it with or without food, and complete the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better early.
Getting enough rest and drinking plenty of fluids support recovery. Using antibiotics only when prescribed, and finishing each course, helps reduce antibiotic resistance.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin, cephalosporins or any other antibiotic, or if you have kidney disease or a history of colitis, and about other medicines you take, especially sodium valproate. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you develop severe or watery diarrhoea, a widespread rash, or swelling of the face or throat. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
