Febubow-40 Tablet is used to manage gout by lowering high uric acid levels (hyperuricaemia) in the blood. Keeping uric acid down helps prevent gout attacks, joint pain and inflammation, and protects the joints and kidneys from long-term damage.
It contains febuxostat, which belongs to a group of medicines called xanthine oxidase inhibitors that reduce the body's production of uric acid. Swallow the tablet whole, with or without food, at the same time each day. Keep taking it even between attacks, as stopping suddenly can trigger a flare.
A diet lower in purine-rich foods such as red meat, offal and some seafood, limiting alcohol and sugary drinks, and staying well hydrated support better uric acid control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any heart, liver or kidney problems before starting, and about other medicines you take. Gout flares can occur when first starting, so your doctor may add medicine to prevent these. Report any rash, chest pain or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
