Febuget 40 Tablet is used for the long-term prevention and management of gout in adults. It works by lowering raised uric acid levels in the blood, which reduces the frequency of gout attacks and allows uric acid crystals in the joints to clear gradually over time.
It contains febuxostat, a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. Take it as prescribed, with or without food. A gout flare may occur when you first start treatment; continue taking the medicine as advised and discuss management of any flare with your doctor.
Drinking plenty of fluids and limiting alcohol and purine-rich foods, such as red meat, organ meats and certain seafood, helps support treatment alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any heart disease, or liver or kidney problems, before starting this medicine, and about other medicines you take. Report any skin rash to your doctor immediately, as this may need the medicine to be stopped and urgent medical review.
