CompositionFlecarite 50 Tablet 10 is used to treat and prevent certain fast or irregular heart rhythms, such as atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia, in people without significant structural heart disease. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing flecainide, which belongs to a class of medicines called antiarrhythmics.
This medicine slows the electrical signals in the heart, helping to restore and keep a regular rhythm and easing palpitations, breathlessness and dizziness. It is started by a heart specialist, often with an ECG check. Take it at regular times, as prescribed, and attend all heart-monitoring appointments.
Limiting caffeine and alcohol, managing stress, getting enough sleep and staying active as advised may help reduce episodes of irregular heartbeat.
This medicine is not suitable for people who have had a heart attack or have heart failure or significant heart disease, as it can cause dangerous new rhythm problems. Before starting, tell your doctor about any heart, kidney or liver disease, low or high potassium, and all other medicines you take, especially other heart rhythm medicines, beta blockers, digoxin and certain antidepressants. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek medical help straight away for fainting, worsening palpitations, chest pain or breathlessness. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
