Foxstat-40 Tablet is used for the long-term management of high uric acid levels (hyperuricaemia) in adults with gout. By keeping uric acid levels under control, it helps prevent painful gout attacks and reduces the risk of uric acid crystals building up in the joints and kidneys.
It contains febuxostat, which lowers the amount of uric acid produced in the body. Take it as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food. Continue taking it even when you are not having a gout attack, as stopping the medicine can cause uric acid levels to rise again and trigger new attacks. Drink plenty of water each day to help flush uric acid from the body.
Dietary changes can also help reduce uric acid levels. These include limiting foods high in purines, such as red meat, organ meats, and shellfish, reducing alcohol intake (particularly beer), and maintaining a healthy weight. Regular monitoring of uric acid levels may be recommended.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any heart, kidney, or liver problems, or if you are taking other medicines for gout. Inform your doctor if you develop a skin rash, as serious skin reactions can occasionally occur. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
