Glizid-XR 30 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults, particularly when starting gliclazide therapy or when a lower starting dose is appropriate. It contains gliclazide, a sulphonylurea, in a modified-release form.
This medicine works by stimulating the pancreas to release insulin gradually and steadily through the day, in response to rising blood sugar after meals, helping to keep glucose levels within a healthier range.
Take this tablet as prescribed with breakfast, swallowing it whole without crushing or chewing, since crushing can disrupt the modified-release action. Have meals at regular times to reduce the risk of low blood sugar.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, are elderly, or have missed meals recently, as these increase the risk of hypoglycaemia. Learn to recognise low blood sugar symptoms, such as sweating, shakiness or confusion, and keep a fast-acting sugar source available.
