Hep Lock 10 IU Injection is a low-concentration catheter lock solution used to maintain the patency and clear functioning of intravenous (IV) catheters in patients requiring long-term IV access. It prevents blood clots from forming inside the line between uses.
It contains heparin sodium (10 IU/mL) and is not intended for therapeutic blood thinning in the body. It is instilled directly into the catheter line by a qualified healthcare professional after each IV access session or as specified by medical guidelines.
Strict aseptic care during line handling, routine catheter inspection, and keeping the insertion site clean and dry support optimal line functioning alongside this procedure.
Before receiving this solution, inform your healthcare team if you have a known history of heparin allergy or heparin-induced blood platelet reduction. Report any unexpected bleeding or bruising near the catheter site to your medical team immediately.
