Hep Lock 10 IU Injection is used to maintain the patency (clear function) of intravenous catheters in patients who require long-term IV access. At 10 IU/mL, it is a very low-concentration catheter-lock solution; it is not used for therapeutic anticoagulation.
It contains heparin sodium 10 IU/mL. It is instilled into the catheter by a healthcare professional after each IV use or at specified intervals to prevent blood from clotting inside the line. Only the exact prescribed volume is used.
Proper catheter care including regular site inspection, aseptic technique, and following healthcare team instructions support catheter patency and reduce infection risk alongside this medicine.
Before using this solution, the healthcare team will confirm no heparin allergy (including a history of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia). Tell your doctor about any bleeding disorders or other anticoagulant medicines being taken.
