Imax-S Injection is used to treat iron deficiency anaemia, particularly in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are iron deficient, including those on haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or who are non-dialysis dependent. It contains an intravenous iron preparation.
This medicine works by directly replenishing the body's iron stores, which are needed to make haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen, restoring iron levels and stimulating red blood cell production.
This injection is given into a vein by a healthcare professional in a clinical setting, where you will usually be monitored for a period afterwards for any reaction. The dose depends on your iron levels and body weight.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to intravenous iron, or if you have liver disease or active infection. Report any unusual tiredness, palpitations or breathlessness during or after the infusion.
